Volunteering at the Killaloe Water Festival, 2014

Our very own home town launched the Killaloe Water Festival in 2014, to promote the variety of water sports available in the locality. The goal was to encourage people to get out on the water, and enjoy themselves! The organizers tried to make it as easy as possible for everyone to get involved, by getting local water sporting businesses to offer their services free of charge for the weekend.

There were activities for everyone who wanted to give it a go, from skilled sailors, powerful rowers and able anglers. All abilities and age groups were catered too, and a movie night was held, complete with hot chocolate and popcorn, for those too young to enter the waves.

The event was generously sponsored by Waterways Ireland, and would have been impossible without the team of water sport enthusiasts who so kindly donated their time, expertise and equipment! Additionally, the festival was advertised by the team at a local marketing agency, Maverick. They worked in branding, signage and communications to get as many people involved as possible.

CMEDIA also got inspired by the community spirit, and spent the weekend filming a promotional video production. We donated our time and finished project to the Water Festival, to show our appreciation for all their hard work! We’re happy to say it was then used to further promote the festival after it wrapped up, and to advertise the next year’s event.
